Hoy mga chismoso! just kidding. :) I got 36,000 hits on the blog yesterday, and 16,700 unique visitors. I wonder how many Coconuter got. You must be wondering who the Coconuter is. I blogged about him before.

( Here's his story ) I used to follow his blog until he moved to the States, married his Filipina girlfriend, etc., and kind of lost interest. Moving along, someone sent me this link to Manny Pacquiao driving away after his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel on November 3. This was before Jinkee Pacquiao left for Las Vegas on November 8. Look closely and you'll see a woman in the front seat of the car (look left) covering her face, and it's not Mommy Dionisia okay.

Now watch
This one's a bit hard to look at. So I heard Manny and Jinkee were not in speaking terms weeks before the fight, and still not speaking on the bus going to Los Angeles. I feel for this woman. She loved him first, she loved him poor. Now he's a gazillionaire and everyone's out to get a piece or chunk of it. Are you just going to watch and give him up to any gold digger?
What a crazy day it was. I'm sure more crazy for others than for me.

Current NanoWriMo Word Count: 23,338 words! While I'm still under target (and I say this every day), I have to admit that I'm still overwhelmed with how much I've accomplished in just two weeks. It's practically amazing in itself - I never really expected that I would have gotten this far before trying it out and hopefully luck will be with me as I continue to press on to the end of the month and the end of my novel!
Of course I don't mind that I wasn't able to spend more of my Sunday writing given that at the very least we did get to push through with gaming! Despite other commitments on the same day, we opted to push through with Gaming Sunday. Mahar arrived at his usual times with a load of snacks to attack while Adrian and Nabs arrived much later and with Nina in tow! The action yesterday was pretty intense and there were a number of revelations all around. My character, Jack, is currently serving as king of the Seasonal Courts but is now trapped in Wonderland. I was trying to rescue Alice from the Red Monarch with Gil (Jill), Mr. Grin and the Mad Hatter assisting. I had some rather great rolls for the session, for which I am highly thankful for, but the worst is yet to come as I now need to kill around five jabberwockys and I can't figure out how to activate what I believe to be (but am not certain) the Vorpal Blade. Bugger it!
As is the way after the Sunday game, Tobie and I pretty much hibernated the day away although we got a little writing in before that along with an impromptu breakfast of hotdogs, Bicol express tuna and thymed potatoes. It was yummy, nicely filling and just enough to send us to bed rather fulfilled.
Today I made Filipino-style spaghetti, although not necessarily as sweet and definitely with more herbs and spices. In order to complete the desired taste, I did add olives, mushrooms and hotdogs and I'm glad Tobie enjoyed it, hehe. Yay for fun food!
This week is going to be busy for work, I expect. I'm also hoping to make more headway with my writing and to prepare for my new role as associate editor for TV for the New Worlds website. If there are people who want to write about science fiction or fantasy shows, feel free to get in touch with me and we'll see what we can do to include your articles or even links to your blog entries as part of the site!
Now it's time to squeeze in some more writing before I need to get ready for work in earnest.
OMG, this reminds me so much of how we played computer games together as kids!

"Until something materializes, as he said in his Cotto post-fight interview, he plans on taking a break, getting some rest, and having some fun. I guess I would assume that this would involve time with his family and also time with his reportedly new flame--Krista Ranillo. To me, I can empathize with Manny regarding this issue, and I think that as long as he takes care of his responsibilities then he should not be restricted of his liberties. I find the situation quite natural and the instinct innate in the human male. I believe that it gives Manny added inspiration, motivation, and/or pleasure in his life, which is something that we all need in life to keep going. Thus, I feel that the media should just let it be." Source

To help him lose weight, I asked a basketball coach to train my son Markus three times a week at the park. Markus is a basketball player's dream son. He was dribbling before he could talk. When he's bored around the house, he dribbles. He says balls are the greatest things.
So I'm glad my kids know my Globe Duo number by heart. They can call me from any landline for whatever reason. I was at Shang when I got an 'important' call from Markus. Markus: "Mommy, can you buy me a basketball cause my basketball is sira." Me: "What happened?" Markus: "It exploded," he explained further. Me: "What? OK, don't worry, I'll get you a one," I said, walking towards Toby's. "What kind of basketball do you need?" Markus: "Molten chocolate cake." What?? Is there's a basketball called 'Molten Chocolate Cake'? That happens to be Pepper Lunch's best-selling dessert.

So I took a chance, went to Toby's and asked the first salesperson, "Do you have Molten Chocolate Cake?" Salesman: "Basketball?" Me: "Yes!" I was thinking, wow, it exists! What a coincidence. Here's what I got:

So that's what it's called. I really think it's amazing I got what I needed.

Current NaNoWriMo Word Count: 21,602 words. Still short of goal, but it was a lot more than I expected to finish before heading out for Saturday night.
Last night was wicked awesome! What started out as simple dinner plans with a good friend turned into a really fun night! Naturally, alcohol was involved.
First, Tobie and I met up with Deo as scheduled at Gateway for dinner and conversation. Initial plans were to find a place where we could both eat and drink at Cubao, but given Deo was famished, we ended up at the Chicken Inasal at SM Cubao. We had a LOT of rice and jokes, banter and ridiculous conversation about school stereotypes, old friends and GLEE! Obviously episode 9, "Wheels," was just THAT good that it really impressed all of us so much. We topped off the dinner portion of the night with Blizzards from Dairy Queen and then it was off to Malate for some proper drinking.
We arrived at Malate REALLY early - like just before 12:00am early, and naturally the place was just starting to get busy. Nico was already there and so we he joined us for initial drinks as the rest of the crew eventually arrived. The night just continued on and Deo and I had fun, um, enjoying the performances of the "chorva" dancers (take note: male AND female dancers!), commenting on passers-by and of course the much needed OMG-I-know-that-guy moments. Of course there was even more drinking, dancing, playing iPhone games in the dark, photos and even dirty ice cream (good job, Fritz!)!
It had been AGES since I last went out drinking on a Saturday night outside of major event weekends and so it was quite a change of pace for me to get back into the Saturday night groove. The VIP area at O bar doesn't get as full as the main area and so I think as long as it remains open, Saturday nights at Malate might become a lot more reliable.
Oh, and just as we were going home, it turned out Jayson was at Malate too! We had a little time to catch up, exchange hugs and well wishes and of course the regrets that we didn't get to party together and the promises to make up for that some time in the future.
In other words, last night was just great! Perhaps we need to go out more...but not necessarily every weekend, haha. I might not be ready for that just yet.
Well, Mahar is here now and we're just chilling until Adrian and Nabs arrive for the weekly game. In the meantime, I'm going to try to get some NaNoWriMo writing done as I upload the photos from last night and perhaps a Geeky Guide entry to boot!
Oh, and I don't know why I decided to start using CAPITAL LETTERS in today's entry, haha. I guess this is part of my post-drinking behavior. =P
Now THAT's rocking it old school! LOL

As I never forget to remind everybody who knows me every single day of the week, I am a gay virgin who can't drive. (Bonus points for those who can catch the movie reference in that!) There isn't really anything wrong with that -- I think I lead a very good life even without a little man on man action on the side. And I certainly don't think the people who do engage in the buttsex should stop doing it just because I'm not partaking in any of it. Have all the buttsex that you want, I heartily approve of it. If all of this happens within the context of a loving, monogamous relationship, then definitely all the best to you. I just find it frustrating that in light of recent douchey events, combined with the fact that every "straight tripper" and "bisexual" within 10 feet of me is engaging in the nasty, that there isn't much of a ruckus about the recent Comelec ruling. If you're enjoying some gay loving, I think it's only fair that you be expected to take part in some fighting for that gay loving you're enjoying. Maybe I should have expected it -- they can't even call themselves gay when they are so obviously enjoying some hot and nasty gay sex. I just thought that there would be at least some faux!outrage online, and not from the usual outlets. This should mean something to you, no matter how you label yourself. What is happening here is your fellow HUMAN BEINGS are being deprived rights that everyone else now enjoys. If it can be done to them, if YOU let it be done to them, who's to stop them from doing the same to you? Even if you're totally "not gay" at all. As in not even one tiny bit.

If you're wondering where the new Team Manila store is at Rockwell, it's on the second floor next to Shoe Salon, far, far away from its old location at the Archeology wing. What you're seeing at Archeology is only an outlet sale of Team Manila, which ends this Sunday. You must go to the other side and see how this small cubby hole at Ecoville

grew into this

In fact, here are Team Manila founders Mon and Jowee in 2005

and today

Success hasn't gotten into their heads. I'd say they're still the same cool guys we met more than four years ago at a Swarovski event. Only now they're practically a household name in the local graphic design world. In the beginning they used to sell T-shirts, pouches, badges and a couple of tote bags. Now they have those, plus stationery, clocks, lomo cameras, wrapping papers, children's tees, and more.

Some of our favorite things:
The softest kids' tees

Spontaneous art, which I hope they'd do on canvass

Election tee

Tissue covers

Passport cases

and the pouches

Visit the newest Team Manila store at Rockwell and see how they've grown.

Comelec rejects Ang Ladlad party list on grounds of immorality. This happened days ago, but I don't think there's a statute of limitations as to how long a blogger can heap abuse on a bunch of blowhards. Because really, Comelec. REALLY. " Older practicing homosexuals are a threat to the youth." This is what we've come to now? Dredging up the gay = pedophile argument? Have you commissioners not been watching the tabloid news that you all seem to love to death? Most of the child molesters are straight male relatives. Fuck that, our favorite child-raping congressman is a flaming heterosexual. It is absolutely stupid to scream "pedophilia" when gays are involved and not do the same for the straights. Goddamit, I'm too sleepy to discuss this more eloquently. Fuck you very much, Comelec.

First up, a very Happy Birthday to one of my most engaged sales trainers, Mau! Now that I'm at home, I'm free to break your "secret" and greet you a very, very Happy Birthday!!! =D
Current NaNoWriMo Word Count: 20,486 words. I broke the 20,000 word count yesterday before heading off to bed but haven't made much progress since. Given I slept away today and dinner plans later, I get this feeling I won't be able to write as much as I wanted to today, but I'll keep trying.
The work week is finally over and I'm more than relieved, naturally. It's been pretty busy, stressful here and there, but that's pretty much par for the course. Next week isn't going to get any better, I'm sure, but we'll do what we need to do and keep at it. But I don't want to think about the work week anymore - it's time to enjoy the weekend!
Tobie and I will be meeting up with a friend of mine that I haven't seen in ages - Deo. We met a few years ago because of a mutual friend and have remained in contact since then. Because of a chance IM conversation this week, we ended up making dinner / drinking plans for tonight and we're looking to meet at around 09:00pm. I have no idea what to truly expect from the night, but it may involve lots of food, maybe drinking and dancing at Malate but ultimately lots of good fun and catch-up conversation. Yay for weekends!
I've also been asked by the geeks over at the New Worlds Alliance to sign up as an associate editor for TV news and features, which is a pretty fun task (take note - I didn't say job) that should complement my Geeky Guide blogging in its own way. Tobie and I were discussing possible titles for my web column and we narrowed it down to two main possibilities: - The Geeky TV Guide
- The Geeky Guide to TV
So which one do you like better? Vote for your favorite in the comments and we'll see how this goes on! For now, I'm cutting all this short so I can get some NaNoWriMo writing in before we leave for the night. Catch you geeks later!
I always wanted to do something like this...sorta. =D

Stroller

It's a good thing I got a Combi Miracle Turn stroller. It's so lightweight and easy to use. Stella's been using it since she was 6 days old. I have no complaints.
Maclaren stroller users are probably aware by now that there is a recall for specific models. Apparently the folding mechanism has proven to be dangerous, some toddlers have lost their fingers. Don't panic. Your Maclaren isn't completely useless. The company -- and thank God the local distributor -- will issue a special add-on gadget to protect small fingers.
Click here for important information and how to get your Maclaren issues addressed locally.
No matter what brand your stroller is, with recall or without, you should always be extra careful when folding and unfolding strollers. Like my friend's mom said, "this is why adults are the one operating the stroller, not kids." So keep your kids at a safe distance when packing up or opening up.
Baby Einstein

Did you let your infant watch Baby Einstein DVDs in the hopes of turning him/her into a genius? Apparently the Baby Einstein series' claims are untrue. So Disney is offering refunds for DVDs purchased in the past. Whoa!
“The Walt Disney Company’s entire Baby Einstein marketing regime is based on express and implied claims that their videos are educational and beneficial for early childhood development,” a letter from the lawyers said, calling those claims “false because research shows that television viewing is potentially harmful for very young children.” Read more here. I just saw this DVD still being sold at P750 in Rockwell the other day. Maybe the locals don't know about the issue. Please spread the word. Personally, we used Baby Einstein tapes/dvds. But it's not like we plopped the babies in front of the TV. We just had it playing in the background. The music is nice. Example, Sophia could only tolerate those hypotic videos when she was 3 and a half. I still think the best way to stimulate your baby is to talk and sing to her, make funny faces and touch/hug/carry her a lot. Music helps. But there's no need to buy fancy learning tools. Nothing beats human contact. .

There is a one-day sale at Tresorie tomorrow. Included in the sale are some of the bag hag's own favourite pieces -- like her purple Chanel 2.55. I was with her once out of the five times she's used it. I can't seem to find a picture of it. But go to her site, its there. Tempting!

A very Happy Birthday to my longtime online friend Ben! Happy, Happy, Happy Birthday Bendix! I should probably make you a photo with me holding a sign or something, LOL
Current NaNoWriMo Word Count: 18,389 words. I'm way behind my daily goal - I'm supposed to be past the 20,000 word count by now - but I'm going to keep pushing forward and trying to get to that level! You hear me NaNoWriMo? I'm gonna write like a mad man...once my work week officially ends. =P
Work was still pretty hectic, but manageable. I had back-to-back meetings today plus my boss Carlo came back from a three-day leave. Thus that meant a lot of updates, issues to address now that he was back and more of my usual work given the two titles that I hold now. Yeah, it's a busy work life, but I'm still enjoying the sense of challenge and I'm liking how things are flowing for the most part. This doesn't mean that things are entirely without unfortunate incident - but then it's the annoying fires that make life interesting, eh?
I got home from work rather tired, so I spent some time tinkering with Mozilla Labs Jetpack, which is an experimental way to implement simple HTML / CSS apps within Firefox. They're more lightweight than full-fledged extensions and they don't require you to restart Firefox to work after installing - you just need to refresh the page. It's VERY early in the product's development and so far I can't get all of the apps that interested me to work. However there are others which are working like a breeze plus they're really fast and not so heavy in terms of memory load. This is definitely an area I hope Mozilla invests more research time in - it's a quick, effective way of implementing applications without the potential bloat and conflicts we get from extensions.
I'm starting to get back into photography using Tobie's resurrected Pentax Optio M40. Like before, most of my pictures tend to be of food and I'm getting some pretty decent shots. I'm still hoping to get myself a better camera before the end of the year but that'll mean burning the credit card soon enough, hehe. My main goal is to get a mega zoom bridge camera since (1) I want a really powerful optical lens for close-up macro shots, (2) I don't like twiddling around too much with DSLR settings, (3) I believe in digital photo editing, and (4) I want the camera to be able to take decent video. I could go hunting down the same model camera as Shane was before, which was a Sony CyberShot H50. I loved that camera when I got it in LA, but it got stolen around this time last year. There's already an upgraded model called the Sony CyberShot HX1 and I'm still on the fence if I like this new version or if I want to save some money and get the H50.
Decisions, decisions! At least I'm trying to stick to my original plan of getting a new camera before I opt to get a netbook, which I admit is more of a novelty / luxury purchase. So sue me! I will get that Asus EEE 1005HA!
I love Pig! More so Duck!

I still remember when I first saw this red ribbon at the Oscars, wondering what that was all about.

It was 1993, I was studying in New York. The early '90s were all about AIDS awareness, skinny eyebrows, Vamp nail polish, Kate Moss, the club kids, grunge, Madonna's Sex book, and Viva Glam.

In 1994 M·A·C Cosmetics first launched VIVA GLAM, an outspoken deep red lipstick that was universal in its appeal and glamour. In 1997, a second lipstick was created, VIVA GLAM II, a lightly pinked mauve. VIVA GLAM III, a foxy brown plum lipstick was launched in 2000. VIVA GLAM IV, a heartfelt rose charged with gold, was introduced in March 2002. In March 2004, VIVA GLAM V was launched in both a Lipstick and Lipglass. In September 2006, VIVA GLAM VI Lipstick made its debut, a warm terracotta-plum with pearl finish. This is coordinated with VIVA GLAM VI Lipglass, a warm, shimmering, multi-dimensional plum that is imbued with pearl, created to be worn over its namesake lipstick.
On December 1st, World AIDS Day, I'll be joining Marc Nelson, Rovilson Fernandez, Jinno Rufino, Alexi Alunan and Marilen Fautino Montenegro to support the M·A·C AIDS Fund through the sale of Viva Glam lipsticks and lipglasses at the M·A·C store, Glorietta 3 from 6 to 7 PM. Please buy your lipstick from me!

Every cent of the selling price of VIVA GLAM Lipstick and Lipglass is donated to the M·A·C AIDS Fund to support men, women, and children living with HIV and AIDS.

I love the world of Marcel Wanders, the Dutch industrial designer who's been rocking the design world for a while. A true visionary. Everytime I read something about his work or go into his website, I get lost in it and just soak up whatever I can learn. And IMHO he's so much better than Philippe Starck. Sexier pa. You probably know him for his horse lamp for Moooi. He's done so much for different companies including Bisazza. I wanted his design in my bathroom but figured, the space is so small, I was better of with something more classic. Plus, we couldn't afford him. Hahaha.
My not-Marcel Wanders Bisazza bathroom (it looks greenish in photos, but its not. it's more irridescent)
So how pleased was I to find out that Marcel Wanders is doing a line for Target? More like, excited. I posted a quick shout-out in my Facebook and begged any of my US-based friends to check out some products for me. (Note, I've never been to Target. There's no Target in Canada. And whenever we're in New York, no one wants to hit Target).
The ones I really want are of the breakable kind. So I didn't bother any of them to look into the vases, plates, jars...because who will hand-carry them for me? Yikes. But anyway, here are my picks:
 Porcelain vase, 29.99 Target
Ornament or place card holders, Target
And my most favourite item in the catalog... his Teddy Bear:
 Teddy bear, Target
I'm so happy, my Fairy Godfriend Heidi found me some Marcel Wanders bears. Yippee.

Current NaNoWriMo Word Count: 16,879 words. Given today's the 12th, I'm supposed to be at 20,000 words. Despite the more than 3,000 word gap, I'm not feeling all that pressured or daunted. I'm just letting the writing come as it will and trusting that as long as I don't give up and I keep at it, I'll catch up eventually. Of course this also means that I won't post a new Geeky Guide entry today. Or will I?

ANYWAY, time to briefly yet vaguely talk about work. I had two applicants for the open trainer posts we have. The first one was pretty enthusiastic but not quite polished. He had a few grammar slips here and there, but he clearly liked the profession and I bet through sheer effort, he'll get decently far. I'm keeping him on the active file while I work through this batch of applicants - then I should have a better idea of where he stands. The second applicant was a decent facilitator but what really made him stand out was how well he spoke and how he seemed to be a decently intelligent guy. When I say the guy spoke well, I'm not talking call center English here. I mean he really spoke better than the average Filipino and that can only really come from a good English-speaking household or something along those lines. I really liked the guy but his skill set is quite what I need just now, so I he's also been relegated to the active file as I continue to screen this week.
Then there were a bunch of other incidents throughout the day that made things interesting, kept me busy and largely prevented me from working on my novel some more. Boo busy days. I went hope later than I had planned, but that just comes with the territory, so I guess it's okay.
What's more interesting to discuss was this morning's cooking attempt - chop suey! I had never made the dish before and so it was an adventure in its own right. Tobie and I had gone nuts on the veggies last Tuesday during the grocery run (fresh produce 10% off!) and I finally tried to put everything together this morning before waking him up. As I started to follow a Filipino version of he recipe I had found online, I started to realize that I may have made a few errors here and there as I tried to indulge in terms of what I wanted to add. The key lessons were: - I probably should have cooked the giblets more...
- Heck, I should have used less giblets.
- I also should have fried the tofu longer...
- ...and I should have followed the Chinese style of cooking tofu and not the Filipino style.
- I forgot to add in the asparagus and the carrots...
- ...which was probably a good thing since I had used a bit too much of all the other ingredients.
Despite all those regrets and little considerations in my head, it turned out decently enough and was still edible. It still tasted like the Filipino version of chop suey, which meant it was a bit soupy and not really stir fry. I'll probably invest time in researching the Chinese recipe more and see how that goes. And we should probably get a wok - the pot worked decently enough, but it still wasn't the same. Ah, the joys of kitchen chemistry experiments!
Geek level up for a reference to "The Prisoner"!!!

Tito Ronny: "Cecile have you seen our photographer?" *sees Atty. Fortun shooting in the background with big cameras* Me: "Uh-huh."

Tito Ronny: "Everybody gets shocked and starstruck when they see the photographer. Did you know Atty. Fortun is a professional photographer?" Me: "Yes I do. I've seen his site." Tito Ronny: "Really? O, Archie, halika dito." *patay*
Tito Ronny: "Archie, I want you to meet my niece, Cecile." Atty. Fortun: "Hi Cecile." *shakes hand* Me: "Hello po." Tito Ronny: "Cecile is Chuvaness." Atty. Fortun: "Wow, I'm starstruck." Me: nge *hides behind Tito Ronny*
Tito Ronny: "O, bakit?" Me: "I blogged him." Tito Ronny: "What did you say?" Me: "Mas guapo si Adel? Ugh." *dies*

First up, a very Happy Birthday to dear friend of mine who goes all the way back to elementary school! A very Happy Birthday to you, David! Keep up the good fight and good luck in all of your endeavors!
Current NaNoWriMo Word Count: 16,233 words. I know I keep saying that it's a long way from my goal and the whole thing still needs work, but I have to admit there's still a significant sense of satisfaction one gets from achieving one goal or another, even the small personal ones. In truth, I need over 2,000 words before I can even just catch up to where I need to be in terms of my daily goal, but the true achievement is me finishing the second chapter of the story with a certain level of satisfaction. I know I'm not very good with the whole bulk writing as fast as one can and I still take some time to think about things and edit to some degree, but at least I'm still pushing forward! And it's a total wow for me - over 16,000 words is nothing to sneeze at, and we're not even at the half way point for the month!
Go, go, go NaNoWriMo!!! LOL
I'm trying to think of a slightly new direction for the Geeky Guide. While it's good that I've pretty much figured out my posting schedules and I'm able to continually read or watch things of geeky interest in order to generate content for the site, but beyond the reviews, there's not much else to it. I'm hoping to flesh out the Geeky Guide with feature articles and not just rebroadcasting news or something. I'm not quite sure to start so today I ended up posting a boring yet informative differentiation between Google AdWords, AdSense and Analytics. It's nothing new for people who know about Google or actually use these features / tools, but it's a decent start.
Overall, I'm still trying to think of other forms of content that I can come up with to keep things interesting. Plus the readers are simply out there for the taking and so I need to figure out how best to position the Geeky Guide in order to get a slice of the market just for me. It's a lofty goal, one that I don't necessarily have a time for this month because of NaNoWriMo on-going and eating up most of my creative time and energies. But it doesn't mean I can't think about it and try to conceptualize new article styles.
If any of you dear friends and other such readers have an idea, feel free to suggest possible alternatives!
In the meantime, I think I may need to lie down in order to wake up early enough later to prepare dinner AND get some writing done. Addict much? LOL
 Damn, dirty evolutionists! ROFL

If your mobile phone is on Globe postpaid, it's time to enjoy meter-less calls with Globe's Superduo. Imagine calling your friends on Globe or TM and not worrying about the time. The other night I spoke to Jude on Globe for more than one hour until I got sleepy. Now you no longer need to say "Do you have a landline?" if both of you are on Globe. All you have to do is get Superduo.
If you're already subscribed to Duo, text DUO OFF to 8888 and wait for instructions to unsubscribe. This will erase you current Duo bill of Php 399/month. Then text SUPERDUO MM ON (for Metro Manila) to 8888 and wait for instructions. Cost is only Php 499/month on top of your postpaid plan—only Php 100 more than Duo.
If you have neither text SUPERDUO INFO to 8888 for instructions. Now watch how it works.
